Master McKenna - Chief Instructor (5th Dan)

Master McKenna started her Martial Arts journey in 1999 when she graduated from university. She was living in Leamington Spa and was lucky enough to stumble upon Master Johnson's Karate at a local leisure centre. After the first class she was hooked; achieving 1st Dan just under 3 years later. In 2006 she earned her Master Grade.

“Martial Arts training is a fantastic endeavour which helps me to stay fit and healthy whilst continually improving myself both physically and mentally.”

Master Geoff Crocker (4th Dan)

Master Crocker joined Martial Arts for Life in 2008 initially along with his son who had already started and shortly after his daughter also joined. He achieved his 1st Dan in 2011 and 4th Dan in June 2018. Having now retired after 30 years in the Police he is now able to continue with his passion of practicing and teaching Martial Arts.

“Before joining the Police in 1988 I had started Shotokan Karate and this led to my interest in Martial Arts. I went on to study Police Taiho-Jutsu affiliated to the British Aikido Association. In 1994 I attained a blue belt and along with this my instructor status which lead me to teaching self defence, control, restraint and officer safety training in Devon and Cornwall Constabulary.”

Master Matthew Walker (4th Dan)

Master Walker started training under Master McKenna in 2004. He achieved his 1st Dan in 2007, and 4th Dan in 2012.

He has also trained in Taekwondo to help improve his sparing, and technical kicking knowledge.

“I really enjoy seeing the progression of my students, both in their technical proficiency, and as they develop more self confidence”

Master MacArthur (4th Dan)

Master MacArthur champions high standards within the club and encourages all students to achieve their full potential.

“My whole family love the fun, friendly classes… Before joining Martial Arts for Life my perception of karate was a testosterone fuelled aggressive activity where participants take pleasure in their own pain and the pain of others! Thankfully Kong Sudo couldn’t be more different.”
